Plan: Add "dev hawk" Agentic Workflow

This workflow monitors the dev.lock.yml workflow completions on copilot/* branches and analyzes failures.

Implementation Checklist

  • Create dev-hawk.md workflow file with:
    • Trigger on workflow_run completion for "Dev" workflow
    • Filter for copilot/* branches only
    • Filter for workflow_dispatch event type only (ignore other events)
    • Configure copilot engine with appropriate tools
    • Add GitHub and agentic-workflows tools for analysis
    • Configure safe-outputs for PR commenting
  • Add workflow logic to:
    • Find associated pull request for the commit SHA
    • Abandon if no PR found
    • Analyze run outcome and logs for errors
    • Post comment with outcome, run URL, and analysis
  • Compile workflow to .lock.yml
  • Test the workflow compilation
  • Run validation and formatting
  • Run complete validation with make agent-finish
  • Update generated documentation
  • Add target: "*" to add-comment safe-output per review feedback

Summary

Successfully implemented the "Dev Hawk" agentic workflow that:

  1. Monitors the "Dev" workflow when it completes on copilot/* branches
  2. Filters to only process workflow_dispatch triggered runs (ignores other events)
  3. Finds the associated pull request using the commit SHA
  4. Abandons if no PR is found
  5. Analyzes the workflow outcome using the agentic-workflows audit tool
  6. Posts a comment on any PR (target: "*") with:
    • Run status and URL
    • For failures: Detailed root cause analysis and recommendations
    • For success: Success confirmation

Key Features

  • ✅ Secure: Read-only permissions with safe-outputs for PR commenting
  • ✅ Comprehensive: Uses agentic-workflows tools for automated failure investigation
  • ✅ Actionable: Provides specific error details and recommendations
  • ✅ Flexible: Can comment on any PR with target: "*"
  • ✅ Validated: All tests pass, no compilation errors or warnings
Original prompt

Add an agentic workflow that runs when the "dev.lock.yml" workflow finishes (success or fail) on a copilot/* branch triggered using workflow_dispatch (ignore other events)

Finds the associated pull request to the branch. if none, Abandon.

Analyze run outcome and logs and determine root error cause if any.

Post a comment with the outcome, run url and analyzis results on the pull request.

Call it "dev hawk"
