Hi @douzongze, thanks for the clear and well-structured feature request. Being able to remove stale repositories from Top repositories (for example, one you opened a single issue or pull request in months ago) is a reasonable ask, and the examples you gave make the use case easy to follow. Current state
Note I'm a community member, not GitHub staff. If a staff member or someone else knows of a setting I've missed, please correct me. Alternatives that give you some control today1. Pin repositories to your profile [Pinned repositories](https://github.com/proxy/docs.github.com/en/account-and-profile/setting-up-and-managing-your-github-profile/customizing-your-profile/pinning-items-to-your-profile) let you choose and order the repositories you want to highlight, up to six, on your profile page. This doesn't change the home page sidebar, but it gives you a curated, reorderable list. 2. Organize repositories with Star lists [Stars and lists](https://github.com/proxy/docs.github.com/en/get-started/exploring-projects-on-github/saving-repositories-with-stars#organizing-starred-repositories-with-lists) let you group repositories into custom lists (for example, "Daily work" or "To revisit") at [github.com/stars](https://github.com/stars). This is the closest official feature to a hand-curated "keep these visible" list. 3. Bookmarks or browser favorites For repositories you open every day, a browser bookmark folder or a saved search is the most reliable shortcut. 4. Third-party userscripts (unofficial) Some community-made browser userscripts add pinning to the Top repositories sidebar. Warning Userscripts are not maintained or supported by GitHub, can break when the UI changes, and run with access to the pages you visit. Review the source code and install only from sources you trust. Making the request countSince this is a feature request, the most effective ways to move it forward are:

+++ Currently, when we archive a repository, it still heavily litters the user interface. Even though it is marked as "Archived," it continues to appear in key UI controls, such as:
For developers who have dozens of old, archived private repositories but only work with a few active ones (e.g., 3-5 projects), this creates a lot of visual noise. Constantly scrolling through and filtering out inactive projects in dropdowns makes the daily workflow quite frustrating. While archiving or using search filters helps to some extent, these feel like temporary workarounds rather than a clean solution. Proposed Solution: |

Feature Request: Customize Top repositories on the GitHub Dashboard
I would like to suggest adding customization options for Top repositories on the GitHub Dashboard.
Currently, the repositories shown in Top repositories are primarily selected automatically based on a user's recent or past activity, such as contributions, Issues, or Pull Requests. However, users do not have a direct way to decide which repositories should appear there.
I suggest adding the following options:
For example, a user may have previously submitted an Issue or Pull Request to a repository, causing it to appear in Top repositories. However, over time, the user may no longer be involved with that project and may not want it to continue taking up space on the Dashboard.
Currently, there is no simple and direct way for users to manage this.
Adding options such as “Customize Top repositories” or “Hide this repository” would give users more control over their Dashboard and make Top repositories a more useful and personalized shortcut to the repositories they actually want to access.
If you agree with this feature request, please consider liking or supporting this discussion. More support would help GitHub better understand the demand for this feature.
Thank you for considering this feature request!
