When Copilot Agent executes commands, it hangs until I press enter in the copilot's terminal window. #12495
I"m using copilot in agent mode. Instead of processing the command output it executed, Copilot occasionally hangs in commands for an entire session and only after i press enter in the powershell windows it moves to "Working" spinner. Restarting vs code insiders help. but then it comes back after some time.
I get this all the time. currently even hitting enter isn't bringing it back to life, but usually it does.
I find that also sometimes tests run automatically, and sometimes it is just waiting for them without starting them. I hit the button and it springs back to life
I discovered this oddity as well. What I have noticed is it isn't limited to GitHub Copilot however (I am experiencing it with Cline as well). I suspect the commonality is Claude Sonnet 4.
The majority of the hanging issues are fixed in the latest Insiders, see microsoft/vscode#255396. If you still experience issues in the latest Insiders, please create a new issue with the following info:
A screenshot of the chat and terminal when it's hanging
Hover the terminal tab, click show details and take a screenshot of the tab. It should look something like this:
If you can stop the tool call (eg. enter or ctrl+c in the terminal), open the chat debug view here
Then scroll down and find the relevant run_in_terminal call and take a screenshot of that
